From 1 April 2017, Commonwealth Health Care Card holders and asylum seekers will be able to apply for the Electricity Rebate through their retailer, providing support to around 160,000 extra low-income families.
Newly eligible customers can apply to their retailer for the rebate from 1 April 2017, with payments back-dated to 1 January 2017. Health Care Card holders and asylum seekers should provide their Health Care Card or ImmiCard number when applying.

Eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders residing in remote communities who use card operated meters to pre-pay for their electricity can receive the rebate in power-cards.
