Central Queensland regional water supply strategy

The government released the Central Queensland Regional Water Supply Strategy (PDF, 1.6MB) in December 2006.

It complements the existing water resource plans and resource operations plans for the Fitzroy and Boyne basins.

Strategy area

The strategy area (PDF, 401.2KB) includes the major urban centres of Gladstone, Emerald, Biloela, Moranbah and Rockhampton. The strategy covers the Fitzroy Basin and adjacent areas of the Capricorn and Gladstone coasts, comprising of the following catchments:

  • Fitzroy River — including the Dawson River, Callide Creek, Don River, Mackenzie River, Nogoa River, Theresa Creek, Isaac River and Connors River
  • Water Park Creek
  • Calliope River, and
  • Boyne River.
