Implementing the Flood Inquiry recommendations

On 16 March 2012, the Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry released its final report into the 2010-11 floods.

The report made 177 recommendations directed at a broad range of issues, including

  • floodplain management
  • land use planning
  • building regulations
  • the performance of private insurers
  • operational and abandoned mines
  • emergency management and dam management.

Of these 177 recommendations, 42 fall under the responsibility of the Department of Energy and Water Supply (DEWS).
